National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA)

The federal agency that investigates cybercrime under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), formed from the former FIA Cyber Crime Wing.

Overview

Press reports state that the Government of Pakistan converted the former Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency into an independent authority, the NCCIA, in 2025, and that the FIA wing was dissolved. Reports describe it as established under section 51 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, with functions rules issued by the Ministry of Interior in August 2025. Its institutional framework is still evolving, so confirm current details with official notices.

What it does

  • Investigating offences under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 as amended
  • Taking over cybercrime work formerly handled by the FIA Cyber Crime Wing
