This is driving a shift in cybersecurity, moving beyond preventing attacks toward building organizations that can withstand disruption, recover safely and learn from incidents. That is the essence of cyber resilience. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in its publication Developing Cyber-Resilient Systems: A Systems Security Engineering Approach, explains how resilience can be designed into systems rather than treated as an afterthought. The lesson is simple: security is not just about keeping threats out. It is also about ensuring that a successful attack does not bring everything down.
